Creating Theatrical Performances for the Community
Est 1968
About Us
Formed in 1968 we are the oldest Amateur Dramatics Theatre Company in the area. Specialising in musical theatre, we rehearse every Tuesday evening at The Elstree Screen Arts Academy in Borehamwood and perform up to three productions a year. Historically we have performed at a number of local venues including The Radlett Centre, The Abbey Theatre in St Albans, The Ark Theatre and the greatly missed Civic Hall. We offer a wide range of productions including musicals, pantomimes, plays and variety evenings. The local community is at the heart of who we are, and we are both incredibly committed and passionate to provide opportunities and entertainment in the Borehamwood area.
Our very first production was the popular 1920’s musical “No No Nanette” in 1969. This was under the leadership of the amazing Winifred Spruce, who also ran a very successful and popular amateur theatre company in Mill Hill, called Spruce Productions. We made history in 1975 when we performed the World Amateur Premiere of the tribal rock musical “Hair”. A show that thrust us into the national limelight.
Further to these we have presented musicals including “Oh What A Lovely War”, “Lady Be Good”, “Cabaret”, “Gypsy”, “Chicago”, “Sweet Charity”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Guys and Dolls”, “Bugsy Malone”, “A Slice of Saturday Night” and “Oliver” to name just a few. We are always delighted to welcome new members of 18 years of age and above, both as performers or members of our hard working production team. Please follow our social media accounts.
